Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as Hawkeye in the third Captain America film, it has been revealed.
The Hollywood Reporter said the 44-year-old actor will return to play expert archer Clint Barton and his superhero alter-ego, alongside his Marvel castmates Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Samuel L Jackson for Captain America: Civil War.
Jeremy – who next stars in the Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age Of Ultron – will also be joined by Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo.
Filmmaking brothers Anthony and Joe Russo will return to direct the next instalment, which will be released in 2016.
Jeremy has also signed on to star opposite Amy Adams in sci-fi drama Story Of Your Life.
The actor will play a physics professor, who is paired with an expert linguist (Amy’s character), to help communicate with aliens in the big-screen adaptation of Ted Chiang’s short story, which will be directed by Prisoners’ Denis Villeneuve.
He is expected to start work on the film after Mission: Impossible 5 and Captain America: Civil War.
