Hollywood star Dakota Johnson had an awkward encounter with her mother Melanie Griffith on the Oscars red carpet – over her new film Fifty Shades of Grey.
When mother and daughter arrived for the event together, US presenter Lara Spencer asked if the Working Girl actress had seen her daughter in the racy movie.
“It’s done so well at the box office, feels like everybody has seen it, have you?”, the presenter asked.
“No” Melanie replied, to which her daughter added hopefully: “Maybe one day”.
But Melanie insisted: “I don’t think I can. I think it would be strange.”
Dakota, who was speaking on the red carpet during the ABC pre-awards show, told her mother: “I think it’s fine. I think that one day you can see it.”
But when Melanie added that her daughter was “a really good actress” and “I don’t need to see that (Fifty Shades) to know how good she is” her daughter looked put out.
“All right you don’t have to see it,” she said, turning her head away.
