Neil Patrick Harris will be the “perfect” Oscars host, Stephen Fry has said.
Stephen, who hosted the Baftas, had only praise for the How I Met Your Mother star, who will lead the star-studded film ceremony this year, following his previous hosting stints at the Tony and Primetime Emmy Awards.
“Neil Patrick Harris is brilliant, absolutely brilliant at this kind of thing. I’ve seen him do the Tony Awards stunningly. He has many things that I don’t have and I adore him,” he said at the Oscar Wilde party with the US-Ireland Alliance at the Bad Robot studio in Santa Monica.
“I think he’s a wonderful man, a great role model and an example in terms of his professionalism and sweetness of nature. He’s just incredible.”
Stephen continued: “I think he’ll do really well and I think he’ll bring back a little bit of pizzazz. I’m sure Neil will be an example of the proper way of doing it.”
The 57-year-old funnyman revealed he is still in newly-wedded bliss, after marrying stand-up comedian Elliott Spencer on January 17 in Dereham, Norfolk.
“I feel radiant. It’s wonderful. I am a lucky sausage. He is quite delightful, he’s beyond delightful,” he gushed.
