Fifty Shades Of Grey writer EL James is apparently fighting for more control of the movie’s sequel.

James didn’t pen the script for the current box office smash based on her best-selling novel, but wants to write the screenplay for Fifty Shades Darker herself, reported Variety, and is discussing it with movie bosses.

It comes amid reports that director Sam Taylor-Johnson – who has admitted her relationship with the novelist was “difficult” as they clashed over their ideas for the film – won’t be back.

If James is installed as the writer, it seems screenwriter Kelly Marcel won’t be back for the second instalment in the adventures of submissive student Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and raunchy billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) either.

However, representatives for Universal have insisted that no decisions have yet been made.

A spokesperson said: “The studio had always intended to sit down with the author after the film opened and discuss next steps, and that has not yet happened.”
