Theology students at Durham University could easily be forgiven for thinking they’re at Hogwarts.
Students already wear cloak-style gowns to formal dinners and some live in a castle, but now classes in theology will be taken by Professor Snape.
Durham Cathedral created the new post, the Michael Ramsey Professor of Anglican Studies, which has been filled by Michael Snape.
Professor Snape will start work at the university in September, leaving his current post as reader in religion, war and society at Birmingham University.
Harry Potter would be less-than-impressed if he was studying at the university, with the news that two Professor Snapes will now teach there.
Professor Michael Snape will join Professor Ed Snape, who teaches management at Durham’s business school, meaning double-trouble for Harry.
JK Rowling’s Harry Potter novels depicted Severus Snape as a cruel but complex character who often crossed paths with the boy wizard Harry.
