Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn has revealed that Jenny Bradley will have some secrets when she returns to Weatherfield.

Jenny, played by Sally Ann Matthews, will have more than a few skeletons in her cupboard when she arrives back on the cobbles, more than 20 years after she was last seen, as she makes a play for mechanic Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).

“Jenny Bradley will very quickly get involved with Kevin,” Stuart told the ITV soap’s official website.

Jenny, the daughter of villainous Alan Bradley, gets romantically involved with Kevin after they start chatting online. She was last seen in 1993, after previously appearing on the show between 1986 and 1991.

She broke the heart of her foster mother Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) when she embarked on an affair with a married man and tried to con Rita out of her money.

Stuart continued: “Now, we know that Jenny has got a history on the Street. She left under a cloud and she really hurt Rita. She’s changed a lot and had a life off the Street, but there are bigger secrets that she’s got, bigger secrets that drive her.

“And, as the weeks progress, Sophie (Webster, Kevin’s daughter) is one of the first people to suspect that all is not what it seems,” he teased.

Meanwhile, there is plenty of drama in store for David Platt, who will face “huge problems” thanks to step son Max’s biological father Callum Logan.

“David’s got his own massive problems, because over the weeks Callum’s taken a real liking to Max and Max is actually his biological son,” Stuart said. “And he’s got almost as many rights to Max as David does.

“On the seemingly good news front is the return of Bethany and Sarah, and very quickly Callum takes a real liking to Sarah. It’s a liking that is returned, so huge problems for David!”

Michael Rodwell’s real son Gavin (Mark Holgate) will also cause trouble on the cobbles, as Michael (Les Dennis) and Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth) try to get married in the ITV soap.

“The clock is potentially ticking for Michael with his heart condition and they want as quickly as possible to get married,” Stuart continued. “Unfortunately, this will coincide with the arrival of the real Gavin.

“And the secret Andy’s carrying, which by now Gail also knows and hasn’t told Michael, will be unravelling. [Gavin's] got nothing but loathing for his father, and Gail finds herself being blackmailed.”
