Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew has been hospitalised with pneumonia.
The 70-year-old actor, who plays Chewbacca in the Star Wars film franchise, is expected to make a full recovery, said his wife Angie.
“Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers, good vibes, and happy thoughts. Peter is indeed in the hospital with pneumonia,” she said on Reddit.
“He will make a full recovery, and hope to be discharged within a few days. Doctors are incredibly happy with his improvements,” she added.
Peter’s team also posted an update on Twitter.
The London-born actor is set to reprise his role as the Wookiee in the upcoming seventh instalment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, alongside returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.
The film, which is directed by JJ Abrams, will be released in cinemas on December 2015.
