It was semi-final week on Bake Off Creme De La Creme and also, apparently, dress up week.

Pulling out all the stops for their showpiece, one team from the London Hilton Park Lane went overboard on their Japanese-themed chocolate dresser with working drawers which contained nougat, an apple pate de fruit and lemongrass truffles.

The threesome, led by “Samurai Sajeela”, dressed in kimonos and bowed as they presented it, to the bemusement of the judges…

…and outright mocking from the fellow teams.

Nor did it save them from judgment from the viewers at home.

They had a few fans.

But mainly people were watching with gritted teeth.

In contrast, people loved the jewellery box design from the Armed Forces team, who recreated a box that Liam’s grandfather had built for his grandma.

And there was also an amazing chocolate ballerina from James’s team.

But it was Sajeela’s samurai team who scored the highest marks of the heat and earned themselves a well-deserved place in the final.

Let’s see what the team pulls out the dress-up box next week.
