Miranda Hart’s sitcom alter ego loves nothing more than sitting on the sofa watching the telly with her friends Stevie and Gary.

But though Miranda may have come to an end in January, fans will be able to see its star back in front of the TV for a Gogglebox celebrity special with two of the most important women in her life – on-screen mother Patricia Hodge (who played Penny) and her real mother, Diana Hart-Dyke.

It should be a fun evening for the comedian, who starred in the 2014 celebrity special. This year she will have to explain to her mother who Strictly star Peter Andre is.

In a 2011 interview in the Evening Standard, the 42-year-old described herself as “living and breathing light entertainment” and said Strictly Come Dancing was her “religion”.

She added: “I do love to cry. I’ll cry at the drop of a hat. I’ll cry at your basic television programme, let alone a weepie.”

But she was less of a fan of the news, saying she “can’t face watching it sometimes. It’s always so miserable. I live in a bit of a news vacuum actually.”
