24 without Jack Bauer? It might sound impossible, but apparently that’s the concept for the hit show’s new spin-off series.
The thriller TV programme has been entirely based around Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland) up to this point, but with new episodes in the works, all that could be set to change.
According to TV Line, showrunner Howard Gordon said that Fox is developing a new spin-off that would centre on a 20-something terrorist hunter and his older female agent partner.
It is thought to be launching as a limited series similar to last year’s cut down 24: Live Another Day, but may in the future become a more long-term project at Fox.
Kiefer starred as Jack Bauer for eight series between 2001 and 2010, as well as in last year’s limited series.
He told the Daily Telegraph last year: “Me, I don’t see going back to it… I think I said the same thing at the end of season eight so I would hate to be held to that.”
