Britain’s Got Talent returned to our screens as the live semi-finals continued with another dose of the weird and wonderful of the nation.

Tonight we watched nine acts go head to head for that coveted place in the final and with only two spaces up for grabs, did they do enough to have us reaching for the phones to vote?

First up were kiddie dance troupe Groove Thing, looking a lot like a box of Quality Street clad head to toe in snazzy purple jumpsuits.

Dancing along to a 70s medley with a little bit of Chic, Boogie Wonderland and Disco Inferno, the 12-piece dance troupe managed to impress the audiences and judges yet again.

“I didn’t think it was going to be great, but I was wrong. You were incredible,” Simon said.

Jules and Matisse, the dog we all wished we had, strutted on stage next to act out another rather impressive skit of a toy shop.

Of course the bordie collie didn’t fail to impress and Jules unleashed a secret weapon she’d been hiding up her sleeve… Another incredibly talented dog and Matisse’s best friend Chase.

If one dog wasn’t enough to melt your heart, then two definitely were.

Next up was the only act that made us feel anxiety and awe at the same time – Bonetics.

The incredibly flexible teen stepped up covered in stunning body paint to dance, prance and contort himself across the stage to Ed Sheeran.

And it wasn’t just the judges clapping energetically once it was all over, Twitter was buzzing with praise for the unusual act.

The soulful choir Revelation Avenue were up next singing a beautiful rendition of Beyonce’s Halo, earning the first standing ovation from the judges of the show.

It was Amanda Holden’s turn to look like a proud parent (there may have even been a tear in her eye) as she praised her Golden Buzzer act.

“I’m so proud of you. It was a beautiful interpretation. It couldn’t have gone better. It was world class,” she gushed.

The HoneyBuns were back to earn themselves another standing ovation, though this time, looking more demure head to toe in black.

Their wardrobe didn’t go down quite well with the judges, with Alesha complaining they’d lost their personality, but their performance managed to redeem the six bubbly ladies.

Magician Michael Late stepped up on stage to perform yet another random act, though despite the bizarre tricks and illusions no one could take their eyes off him.

As the Austrian skipped about his fairytale set, working his magic with a ridiculously contagious smile, there was only one thing on our minds…

Everyone’s favourite act, the twerking, glitter fuelled Luca Calò was back in our lives as he opened his performance with a rather awkward bit of warbling.

But soon he’d whipped of his jacket and got his groove on, strutting across the stage to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love – complete with booty-popping and an impressive splits.

Backing singer Alison Jiear was next to have her chance in stealing the limelight with another powerful ballad.

Unfortunately the judges (people of Twitter) thought the performance didn’t quite manage to top her audition, but they still showered the Aussie with love nonetheless.

The time had come for the most anticipated act of the night (as judged by Twitter) and Old Men Grooving took to the stage in their all-too-familiar corduroy trousers and cardigans.

Yet again, they gave a new life to term ‘dad dancing’, sliding across the stage with a fusion of dance moves that had us all on our feet.
