Since the sad news of Leonard Nimoy’s passing hit the headlines, there has been no one more vocal in their tributes than the sci-fi community. And we’re not just talking fans. Big names from sci-fi stardom have reflected on the life of a friend, a colleague, and an inspiration.

It’s probably best to start with Nimoy’s co-star William Shatner.

Zachary Quinto, the guy who took up the Spock mantle in the Star Trek reboot, left an equally moving tribute on Instagram.

The caption reads: “My heart is broken. I love you profoundly my dear friend. And I will miss you everyday. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

Other Names from the Star Trek universe paid tribute

Jonathan Frakes, who played Commander William T. Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation, tweeted this.

This beamed in from his co-star Marina Sirtis, who played Counselor Deanna Troi.

Nana Visitor, who played Kira Nerys in Deep Space Nine, made this tribute.

More distant stars of the sci-fi galaxy paid their respects

Firefly star Nathan Fillion:

Dave Hewlett, who is in his own words “that irritating guy from Stargate Atlantis”:

Kat Dennings, who appeared in Thor but is more famous for 2 Broke Girls:

Cyberman fighter (and Dirty Den slayer) Tracy-Ann Oberman:

Jane Espenson, who’s written on Buffy, Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, and Torchwood:

Designer and sci-fi model-maker Adam Savage:

Comics author Neil Gaiman:

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane was sincere, dropping in a heartfelt Star Trek reference for good measure.

And if you don’t think Seth MacFarlane counts as a sci-fi star, you obviously haven’t seen the Family Guy Star Wars parodies.

And finally, proving that Nimoy made everyone dream of space, these guys from science fact paid their respects:
