Natalie said: “I’d love her to come in as a glamorous gran. Maybe as Moira Barton’s mum who has been on a cruise or something.

“Everybody knows I love Joan Collins.

“When I was in the musical Wicked I had a week off to go on holiday.

“When I came back all the cast were a bit cagey. Eventually, one of them told me that Joan had been to see the show while I was off – and she’d come backstage afterwards!”

The actress also revealed that viewers may be surprised by what’s in store for Alicia and husband David in the new year.

She teased: “I have a great storyline coming up next year, which I’m really excited about. But I can’t tell you what it is!

“It’s not a typical Alicia and David storyline. And that’s what I love most about it – it’s a curve ball that you’re not going to see coming.

“I think there’ll be some interesting debate raised about it, too. When they told me what it was I was really surprised. So I’ll be working quite hard next year.”
