Bradley Walsh has said he left Law And Order: UK to get more variety in his work.

The actor and TV presenter - who hosts new game show Keep It In The Family - starred as Detective Ronnie Brooks in the ITV crime show for eight series before deciding to quit earlier this year.

Bradley revealed: "I wanted to rest it for a short while, because it's a seven-month shoot, so I've now gone to the BBC and am making something shorter inside eight or nine weeks (the sitcom Woody, alongside Fonejacker star Kayvan Novak), and it gives me time to do other stuff.

"I was locked into Law And Order in that respect. It was a fantastic show and the best thing I've ever done. I really loved it, however, seven months is a long, long time."

The 54-year-old is having fun hosting Keep It In The Family, but revealed the kids taking part cause havoc during filming.

Each episode sees two families go head to head in a series of games to win holidays, cars and other big-ticket items, with the children choosing who will take part in each task.

"One boy, dressed up as SpongeBob SquarePants, decided to run all over the set, and tried to get away from me when I tried to corral him to stand still. That went on for about three or four minutes," revealed Bradley.

"Another broke the lever for the trapdoor, while others have been over zealous with the buzzer and broken that too. But it's great fun, and makes the show what it is."

:: Keep It In The Family begins on ITV on Sunday, October 26.
