Review: Guy’s Eating Establishment, Billsborrow

Lancaster And Morecambe Citizen: BE SPOILT FOR CHOICE: An array of food venues on one site at Guy’s BE SPOILT FOR CHOICE: An array of food venues on one site at Guy’s

ANYONE wanting to find some rootin’ tootin’ tasty food should get themselves down to Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, situated on the A6 south of Lancaster.

With an army of food venues, including a pizzeria, an ice cream parlour and a pub tavern — diners are truly spoiled for choice as the showdown between restaurants begins each visit.

Located next to Lancaster’s canal, this hamlet of entertainment often has live music, events for the children and festivals being held on its grounds.

Boasting a list of traditional pub food, Guy’s Tavern has a cowboy-esque feel running throughout its wooden flooring and tables.

The staff were very friendly and did not grumble at all when my nana made us move from outside to inside once the order had been placed.

There was a good mix of vegetarian food on the menu and I opted for a vegetable lasagne (£8.90), served with chips and a selection of vegetables.

The waitress brought the food out in good time and was very helpful throughout, bringing my nana additional sauces and extra drinks.

The portions were huge, so being very hungry before I sat down I felt fully satisfied by the end of my meal. The lasagne had a creamy sauce and well-cooked vegetables with a good amount of chips.

My nana had a plate-sized Yorkshire pudding with lamb and vegetables (£9.50). It was too big for her to finish but she said it was cooked well.

Nestled into this hamlet is a list of craft shops and for anyone wishing for a full day’s entertainment, as well as food, people can enjoy the venue’s cricket pitch and crown green bowling.

There was a long list of ales and lagers on offer at the bar, plus wines and soft drinks.
