A boudoir fit for kylie

Posted on 2:25pm Wednesday 3rd September 2008

Hooray the bikini is 60 years old, this summer! Passport to Style set up as resident stylist at Waterstones to brighten up the gloomiest of skies and offer swimwear advice to the women of Lancaster This August some of you Lancaster lovelies may have caught me at Lancaster Waterstones spreading the joy of chic styling, to yes, believe it or not Waterstones bookshop. So what’s, all that about? Well Waterstones aware of their female readers increasing interest in becoming more body confident, wanted to offer local women a free fun opportunity to discover what their perfect swimwear was, to celebrate the birth of the bikini this year. So with the support of Gail from Shabby Chic, we set about creating a stylish boudoir fit for kylie, complete with chandelier, chaise lounge a adorable mirror and a ton of Shabby Chic roses. You will no doubt all breathe a sigh of relief when I tell you that no Swimwear needed to be tried on, all I asked for were women’s measurements to give me a gauge of their size and shape. The idea was, local women could get lots of ideas of what style of swimwear to look out for, for their size and shape by looking at some of the sumptuous styles I had cherry picked for the season to meet every budget and brought to Waterstones.

Aerate, don't suffocate!

Posted on 12:37am Sunday 17th August 2008

Aeration is a must in fish ponds, especially throughout the summer season. Warm water holds less oxygen than cooler water and because our pond fish need oxygen to survive, we must provide them with plenty of oxygen during hot weather (what hot weather?).

How can I get rid of green algae from my pond

Posted on 2:29pm Friday 6th June 2008

A UVC (Ultra violet clarifier) will give you the best results. Your pond water is passed through the UVC and is receives a dose of ultra violet light. The UV light doesn't actually kill the algae, but what it does do is it makes the minute algae particles floculate (stick together) creating larger particles that your filter is able to remove, and therefore creating clear water. In heavily planted ponds you don't tend to get green water, as the plants use up the nutrients that green algae need to thrive. Please don't hesitate to pay us a visit if you require a UVC and we will calculate your pond volume and advise on which unit you will need for your pond.

Get Wardrobe Karma

Posted on 2:12pm Friday 6th June 2008

How many of you get up in the morning to get ready for work or the weekend, only to reach into your wardrobe and groan, because you get lost in a maddening maize of kindly cast offs from your friend, mother or sister an avalanche of shoes, bags and outdated dusty accessories, prehaps you even share your wardrobe space with your partner? Not to mention all those impulse buys we make, with no particular thought in mind of our existing Wardrobe or our current shape, but just the fact that purchasing that sexy top, that looks like the type of thing Gwen Stefani would wear makes us feel we have the potential to be that hot. But dam it why when we reach home, rush upstairs and throw it on do we feel less than sure about its power to transform its wearer into a hot mama, why? Because somehow it doesn't look right when teamed with that denim skirt hung on to for the last 18 months under the pretext that you will slim into it, that shows of every roll of fat we possess and then some! We are sadly a nation of hoarders and it is often our wardrobe space that is no exception. Keeping hold of clothes that have been past mistakes, some how eases are guilt of money wasted and is in effect a security blanket if a rather frustrating and draining one.
