BATHROOMS are an increasingly important room in the house.
Second to kitchens, they are rooms which buyers will look most closely at, so if yours is not up to scratch, it will put people off.
Years ago all but a tiny minority of houses had just one bathroom, but these days its common to have at least two, say a family bathroom and an en-suite.
Almost 3 in every 4 new homes have at least two bathrooms and 10 per cent of new properties being built have 3 or more!
Putting in an extra bathroom could add another 5 per cent or more to the value of your home, depending on the type of house you live in, according to TV property presenter Martin Roberts.
There’s more benefit to adding an extra one to a five bedroom house with just one bathroom, compared to a one bed flat which already has a bathroom.
Also if you have a rota for who uses the bathroom in the morning, adding an extra one to your home could be the best thing to cut down on family arguments and stress.
If you’re not up to adding a new bathroom, give your existing one a facelift with some latest bathroom innovations: - Statement showers are now all the rage. Done in plain white, some manufacturers are creating trendy fascias on their showers.
- Look for coloured showheads, which are now available in a range of vibrant colours.
- Try with Spa Glow bath lights, coloured lights that can float in water or can be stuck to the side of your bath, even underwater, or shower.
