Dead woman named

Lancaster Police are investigating the sudden death of a 27-year-old female in the city on Wednesday evening.

The woman, who has now been identified as Lisa Briggs, was found collapsed in the toilet area in St Nicholas' Arcade, Lancaster around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about Ms Briggs and her movements or lifestyle to come forward.

DCI Neil Esseen, the officer in charge of the enquiry, says: "Tests so far into why Ms Briggs died have proved inconclusive, and our enquiries into how she died are continuing.

"We believe she was well known throughout the city and we would ask anyone who believes they have information as to her lifestyle, and in particular her movements on Wednesday, to contact us."

Lancaster Police can be contacted on 01524-63333.
