Cheers m'dears

CHEERS St John's Hospice has received a cheque for £1,000 from funds raised by regulars at the Black Bull Inn in Brookhouse.

A sponsored run from the pub to the hospice by Sue Stackhouse, Pat Marshall, Jez Moss and Stephen Crossman set the cash ball rolling with £440 and more was added by a charity auction of unwanted Christmas gifts.

And the cheque handover, pictured, is only the start of the good work at the pub - manager Mandy Townson and regulars have set up a committee with a target of raising at least £10, 000 by the end of the year.

Plans include a charity calendar, further auctions and raffles, with all money raised going to St John's Hospice and community projects in Brookhouse.
