Win tickets to see Sara Cox from Radio 1 at Carlisle Racecourse
9:00am Monday 16th July 2012 in Competitions
It's the only race meeting in the world at which the winning jockey is guaranteed to be a woman - and we've got four free tickets up for grabs - whatever your gender!
All the action on the track at next month's Edinburgh Woollen Mill Ultimate Ladies' Night is exclusively for female jockeys, which means no men will be competing in any of the evening's six races.
Of course, the unique event at Carlisle Racecourse on Monday, August 6 is open to male and female spectators and a sell-out crowd is expected as the entertainment also includes a superb program of fashion and fun, culminating in a live mix of music by Sara Cox of Radio 1 after the final race.
The attendance at the Cumbrian track's inaugural Ultimate Ladies' Night fixture last year topped 10,500 and the capacity for 2012 has been reduced to 9,000 to ease congestion, meaning tickets will be in short supply for this spectacular evening.
Newsquest Northwest has teamed up with Carlisle Racecourse to promote their great competition to our readers. Enter now for your chance to win one of two pairs of tickets to the event.
The racecourse is owned by The Jockey Club, whose stable also includes Aintree and Haydock as well as Cheltenham and Epsom. Richard Clements, the Carlisle track's general manager said: "This is not just a truly unique racing fixture, with it being the world's only meeting exclusively for lady jockeys. It is also a highlight of the social calendar for thousands of people who love dressing up on a summer's evening and putting on a bit of style. This year we've also got Sara Cox playing songs that you'll just have to sing and dance along to. It's not to be missed."
Prizes will be awarded for the Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Gent and Best Hat during the evening. There will also be a fund-raising charity footrace for ladies.
Gates open at 3pm and the first race gets underway at 6.05pm. The last race starts at 8.35pm before Sara Cox presents her live mix of music. A free shuttle bus service will operate from the racecourse back to Carlisle city centre towards the end of the evening.
Advance ticket prices for Ultimate Ladies' Night cost £16 and are available at www.carlisle-races.co.uk or on 0844 579 3002. Admission is available on the day at £20. Admission is free for accompanied under-16s.
